Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

This is the first year A+G Architects is reporting its emissions, and as such, this will serve as the baseline year for future emissions reductions efforts.

Notes:

- Scope 1 emissions estimated based on 8 employees traveling 5 miles each way to work, 5 days a week, 48 weeks per year in gasoline-powered vehicles getting an average of 25 mpg.

- Scope 2 emissions estimated based on typical electricity usage for an 8-person office.

- Scope 3 emissions estimated based on natural gas usage for heating a small office building.

- Actual emissions may vary based on specific vehicle models, electricity/gas usage patterns, etc. This serves as an approximate baseline for a small 8-person firm.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 12 tCO2e by 2028.

 

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2023 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 3 tCO2e, a 17% reduction against the 2022 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract:

Switched to 100% renewable electricity for office (2 tCO2e reduction)

Encouraged cycling/walking/public transit for employees, reducing vehicle miles travelled (1 tCO2e reduction)

 

Notes:

The 17% reduction from 18 tCO2e baseline to 15 tCO2e through the two initiatives listed.

Projected further reductions to 12 tCO2e by 2027 (33% reduction from baseline) through continued efficiency efforts like LED lighting, energy-efficient computers/equipment, further encouraging remote work/public transit usage where possible.

The carbon reduction targets and completed initiatives show A+G Architects is making sustained efforts to reduce emissions in line with achieving Net Zero by 2050.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

Air source heat pumps

Walk to work days

Bike to work days

 

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans.

​

Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

​

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
